Wedding consultations: we know stuff about flowers

January and February are huge booking months for us. Once brides have their venue booked for both their wedding and social, maybe they've booked a wedding planner and a photographer; somewhere in there, it's time to visit the florist. Without doing a sales pitch here, we are very into giving brides the best insight into what their flowers actually look like. We whip up little samples and make sure we talk brides through everything they could possibly want for their special day. With that said, we've decided to provide you with a little bit of a list of how to prepare and what to expect for your wedding flower consultation (you know, just in case you were wondering).

1. Get online. Look through many, many examples of bouquets. Try and get a feel for the style you'd like. Do you want to stay with simple and white? (very popular for celebrity weddings) or do you want something bright and colourful? The only way to know is to look at lots of bouquets; big, small, oblong, round. The more you look, the better a feel you'll get for your personal taste. And bring the photos of bouquets you really like to your consultation!

2. Check availability of flowers. If you have your heart set on tulips and you're getting married late September, it's best to let go of that sooner rather than later. Easily Googleable (yes, I made up that word).

3. Talk to your married friends. They've been through it. They know what worked for them and their opinion on colours/styles/shapes could be invaluable to you. Did they look back on their wedding photos and wish they had gotten a bigger bouquet?

4. How do you want to make your bouquet special? Many people attach little family charms or use a special ribbon or cloth for the handle. It could be in honour or in memory of someone or just something you think is beautiful and special and you'd like to incorporate. Bring these things to the consultation. We know what works and what doesn't and to be honest, we love adding special touches and making one-of-a-kind bouquets.

5. We know stuff. Sounds silly but it's true. We know things about flowers that you would never even dream to think about. Not only are we there to help you pick the perfect floral decor for your special day but we can offer you fantastic advice that can help you make the best choice for you.
